Buying Uniform

Sec1s,

Please bring at least $80 next Friday to buy your Guides uniform; $40 will be reimbursed by the school.
Five of your seniors will accompany you to the Guides Headquarters in Bishan during CCA time.

we have a fabulous thinking day 'parade' today (:
it was the best among the 4 years.
thanks for all the efforts girls.
i'm soooooo proud of you :D

you girls might not be able to see,
but from where i was standing.
there are so many pairs of eyes on US.
everyone is paying attention to US (not their books or notes like usual)
no mockery, no laughter just LOUD and strong applause.

anyway this is ONLY the beginning.
today's performance is a clear sign to the school
that GG is only going to be better in the future.

P/s : please sleep early on Sunday. And have breakfast. We do not want any of you to feel unwell. And perservere! The conditions are not as bad as NDP, srsly. NDP is a million times harsher than this with all that sun and sweat and 35 mins (or more) of standing still! Be thankful for the shade and the fans above. So please, we expect no casualties.

SEC 1s

1) Enrolment retest will be postponed to 2 March 2010.

I EXPECT 100% passes. Because your enrolment ceremony will be during the March Holidays CCA camp. & before this camp, you will be rehearsing on how to execute the ceremony. So if you do your Maths, we are tight for time and more importantly, I want you to start on a formal Guides training :)

2) Recall on the 3 commands. SEDIA, SENANG DIRI, HENTAK KAKI.

These 3 are one of the basics. Please ask around amongst your CCA level mates if you're unsure or you can randomly ask any seniors you see along the school corridor. Again, this is important for your Enrolment Ceremony.

3) On the next meeting, I do not wish to answer any of your lame and silly questions like "what to wear?". "what to bring for roll call?" etc. Feel fortunate that you have seniors who would want to maintain this blog. This blog is to ease communication not for sheer fun.

4) I think you girls have very positive attitudes towards CCA. I can sense your interest and the level of commitment you have :D

Good Job! However, I think we can improve on the following areas

-talk with each other and not only your classmates or friends. ask for each other's names, no. etc

-be more work-efficient. Don't take so much time to do a duty assigned otherwise risk going home late! (& I don't want okayyyy!)

-help each other out more frequently

-be more proactive (although I think as a whole, you've really set the standards high for this)

5) Events to look forward to:

- Thinking Day celebration @ Indoor stadium

- Thinking Day celebration in school on MONDAY 22 FEB.

For celebration @ school, I will ask you what are the messages that is talked about. Won't be saying much here. Anticipate. Wait & see.

SEC 1s

Attire: Level Tee and PE shorts (fall-in time is to be confirmed)

FINAL Enrolment test.

TO absentees of last Friday, please check with your CCA level mates on the enrolment clauses that I have covered.

I'll be doing a recap of all the clauses for only half an hour. Please do not come with the mindset that you can memorise everything by heart in half an hour. I have explained to you the rationale behind this test. Also, if we get this done and over with FAST, you can engage in the GENUINE Commonwealth Girl Guides trainings with the rest of the company.

MARCHING

Commands that you should be able to do by the end of Friday's training

1) Senang Diri

2) Sedia

3) Hentak kaki

4) Basic Footdrills (ke kanan pusing, ke kiri pusing, ke belakang pusing)

If you have been bringing your brains to CCA, we have already covered the first 3 commands above. You should be able to do 70% of them. Otherwise, it's really the time to pull up your socks and buck up or else you'll be lagging behind and the whole of your sec1 life would be marching (retarded!)

& btw, I do not write details explicitly for fun. Have the effort to jot these down in your notebook. Remember, you're at the learning stage. Bring an open heart and mind. Your big responsibility ahead would be to carry out your responsibility as good and effective seniors. For now, you're in the midst of preparation.

a few things to note

1. Thank you very much to the Guides who dedicated songs to the exco and the rest of the company.


2. UNIFORM for Total Defense Day and Thinking Day (This part does not concern Sec 1s for the moment)

• Iron your beret so that it is folded up at the sides and back.
• For leaders with the white stripes on your shoulders, sew them on so that they do not keep moving.
• Ensure that you sewn on your badges and Company name tape (the one that says CSS 1st COY) correctly.
• POLISH your Enrolment Badge and your boots UNTIL THEY REALLY SHINE. When someone smiles into your boots they must be able to see the reflection of their teeth.
• Tuck in your blouse so that your belt can be seen all round.
• Wear your skirt at your waist, not your hip. No short skirts allowed, same standards as school skirt.
• Socks must be 4cm above ankle.
• PIN UP YOUR FRINGE AT ALL TIMES. Do not let your fly around your face.
  
• Long hair must be plaited so that the state crest on your back is not covered.
• Iron your uniform, with starch if possible.
• Iron your scarf WITH THE FOLDS so that it is easier for you to tie and looks neat when it has been tied.
• If you have PE on Wednesday or Monday, change into your uniform after your PE lesson is over.
  

• Be punctual; do not fall in any later than 6.45 am on Wednesday, 17 Feb 2010.

• Reminder: We will be rehearsing for Thinking Day in the hall from 3 pm to about 4.30pm.

3. ATTITUDE

Sec 1s:

• Note what Azalea told you yesterday just after Roll call.
• REPORT IN THE REQUIRED ATTIRE FOR CCA. Do not give excuses.

Sec 4s and 5s:

• "Slacking during CCA" is not in our vocabulary. we do not 'slack' when there is work to be done. We have not stepped down yet so there is absolutely no reason why should not be helping the Sec 3s and 2s with what has to be done. Remember we did not get a PNA Gold becaused CCA was 'slack'.
  
• Anyway we are going to be in our CCA only until April. Please treasure what little time you have left.

Sec 3s:

• You have improved your leadership skills considerably but please do not stop here. Keep up your energy and enthusiasm.

Sec 2:

• You need to participate more actively in CCA activities.Trust me you have plenty of time in this year to do so.Please do not wait for next year as you will have more school activities next yesr. This your year to have fun during CCA.

You are given 3 ample weeks to complete this.
please manage your time properly and START doing,
don't rush during last minute!

These 3 badges are known as proficiency badges.
you will only get these badges if you complete the tasks,
and guess what, you can sew it beautifully on your future guides uniform!
this is a very important component for our Puan Noor Aishah award too.

We were all in a hurry to go home today but here is what I have got to say...

Dearest Sec 4s: Thank you all for all the loyalty and support and enthusiasm you have shown to CSSGG. Thank you also for developing our juniors into more confident people.

Beloved Sec 3s: No matter what others might have told you, I honestly feel you have in you what it takes to bring the unit from here to a higher level. You can do it so do it with the confidence ok?

Dear Sec 2s and 1s: You may not realize now how significant this day is to your seniors, but take them as your role models and do your best in contributing to your CCA.

Last but not least, to all the other people out there, especially our Guiders, thank you for your guiding us to where we are today.
