A little note
today's been a tiring day for all, but still, do read this post and self reflect (:
1. Marching
You have been practising marching for every Guides session, and we can tell many of you Guides have improved especially the Sec 1s. Keep it up! However, there are some who seem to have lost their drive in Marching.
We may be strict and always punish you. Some may be angry that they did not do anything wrong but got punished due to others' mistakes in marching.
But have you realised you've been punished for making the same mistakes made over and over again? Some include, not having a sense of urgency, always taking your own sweet time, not projecting your voice loud enough, wearing short socks, not tucking in your shirts.
So always take note of all these and make self-improvements.
Don't always get backed down by the sun, the sweat, the fatigue. Each and everyone of you has the 100% ability to march well. It matters only whether you're willing to put in the effort! Always try your best. This applies to your academics, sports, everything!
And Guidesss, we ought to learn from our repeating mistakes and do things together. Do remember we all stand as one, marching under the sun, our marching steps moving as one, our arms swinging as one, our arms locked as one, sweating as one, feet V shaped as one, our bangs banged as one. Hahah. Every improvement you decide to make makes a big difference (:
2. Your Voices
Yeahh Guides, we've heard all your Patrol cheers. We're impressed you know, that you girls are so enthusiatic in cheering for your patrols. We like hearing all of your voices, it brings much more life in Guides, as everyone is involved.
But in fact, many of you are quite quiet in cca. Do open up and talk more to each other, especially those not in your patrol. Make more friends (: `Cos come on, we can choose whether to enjoy or not during Guides. Chooe to enjoy and make the fullest out of it.
Have the confidence to be loud and clear and don't be afraid of speaking up in front of the company, your patrol or anything. Each one of you makes up the formation of CSSGuides, it does not only involve the leaders speaking, we want to hear all your voices each cca session((:
3. Your smiles
Please always remain a positive attitude towards Guides, be hyper, be active, smile at each other, SMILE. Guides remain cheerful despite any difficulties and this makes the world rounder 8)

-8th August: Awards Day
-9th August: Ayer Rajah CC Marching Observance & Singapore NDP
Do switch on the tv and look out for Sarah, Dian, Shafiqah, Felicia, Jing Yi, Gloria, Shu Ting & Thelsa in NDP! They've been training on Saturdays since April! :P
To the Guides in the marching contingent, be honoured that you are representing CSSGuides to march. Thus always have the pride and discipline in yourselves during marching parades(This applies to all!) (:

CCA TMR :)
TIME: 1.50pm fall in
VENUE: Foyer
ATTIRE(school ndp people + reserves):
- Polo tee with guides skirt.
- Tie plaits
- Long socks with white canvas shoes
ATTIRE(all the rest of the company):
Polo tee with school pe shorts.
WHAT TO BRING(everybody):
Each patrol bring:
1 cup, 1 plate and cutlery set.
Individually :
(only people involved in school ndp & reserves NEED NOT bring the following)
- Old / used rags.
- Staples
Just a few note:
1) SCHOOL NDP + RESERVES
We need full attendance for tmr & all the rehearsals from tmr onwards. So try not to be absent or missing out on any of the rehearsals. If you have a valid reason, please try to inform the excos ASAP a few days before the rehearsal. There will be a rehearsal tmr, nxt wed and friday. Then the following monday and tuesday is the real event already.
To clear any confusion:
# 8th August Monday: CSS Awards Day cum NDP Celebration
- Whole school will be there
- It will be held at JE Cultural Hall (there's aircon! :))
- NO marching in, only standing for the starting 15-20mins, till guest of honour arrives, inspects the FIRST ROW. Then we will fall out and enjoy the rest of the perf with the sch.
# 9th August Tuesday: National Day Parade
- It is not for the school, this parade is for the public and some CC people.
- It will be held at Ayer Rajar CC
- There will be march in and march pass with the drum beats, there is GOH and guest of honour as well.
- This is the one we have been practicing all the while so far.
Tomorrow, there will TWO rehearsals for both events. It is very different so do not get mixed up during the real event ^^
2) To ALL
We are aware that sometimes we do update the blog very late, but do not keep facebook-ing or smsing us to update the blog quickly. We have a reason for updating it late as we do end school very late everyday, have a lot of work and extra lessons. We do try our best to update ASAP so just check the blog regularly. If you are unable to, as we have said this umpteen times, do check with your friends or seniors.
We usually update the blog on a monday/thursday, around the evening. So when we say check with other people, we do mean around night time on the day before cca, not like on sat you ask them for tues cca details.
3) 1.50pm FALL IN
The 'TIME' for cca that we always post on the blog refers to the time you guys need to get ready and be AT THE FOYER. Not the time you put your bags into the guides room.
*PL or PS, do be earlier too. You guys are responsible for the starting of roll call and you guys are the seniors, so please report at the foyer earlier in future. We know some of ur might be late due to long queues at the canteen, but do have a sense of urgency and hurry when you are already late. Don't JUST clip up your fringes or tuck in your shirt during roll call. Also, assign someone to fall in in your place if you know you are going to be late.

School NDP
There is no need for all of your to come for rehearsal tomorrow. We only need the 4 markers, which are Desiree, Rissa (replaced by grace for tomorrow), Alison and Ye Qi.
The rest of your do not need to come tomorrow, there is another rehearsal next wednesday so we will post on the blog if your need to come again. :)
For the people going tomorrow:
Wear whatever attire you are wearing tomorrow, no need to wear half U or tie plaits. Sign your consent forms and bring tomorrow, bring all your bags and stuffs as you will be dismissed straight from JE Cultural Hall. See ur tmr, 2.15pm @ foyer :)

IT IS NO LONGER ON 29JULY.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE AND SPREAD THE MSG, but still continue to brush up on your performances. We might suddenly ask your to perform one day.
Also, CCA on friday resumes as per normal. Details will be posted again.
We will update EVERYONE (including seniors) about the new date as soon as we confirmed it. :)

Guides Stuffs.
SCHOOL NDP PEOPLE + RESERVES:
There will be a rehearsal for you guys on WEDNESDAY 27th july.
Time: 3-5pm
Venue: JE Cultural Hall
Attire: Polo tee with guides skirt & belt (NO need boots)
More details will be up soon, as we will be meeting in school before heading over, not going over there yourselves.
SEC 1s:
You guys will be needed to complete 3 proficiency badges (the badges to sew on your right sleeve of your full guides uniform). You guys will have to hand up all of these on 5th august cca. There is more than enough time for your to do finish, so please do all of them properly.
ACCIDENT PREVENTION1. Know how to guard against accidents when using: gas electrical appliances, kerosene stoves, naked lights, open fires.
2. Know what special precautions to take in the house with:
2.1 Small children
2.2 Old people
3. Know at least two different ways of preventing accidents:
3.1 When boating and bathing;
3.2 When using public transport, cars and cycles;
3.3 When with animals;
3.4 In high-rise buildings.
*Research on all of the above and create a scrapbook with all the informations. Include pictures and decorations too.
ARTIST'S BADGE All drawings should only be made on A4 paper.
1. Draw an illustration on any of the following topics (use only paint, colour pencils or crayons)
1.1 An imaginative drawing;
1.2 A landscape;
1.3 An animal drawing;
1.4 A still life drawing; (e.g classroom, house)
1.5 A plant drawing.
*Need not be a top class art piece, but please put your heart into doing it and do it properly. We will reject sloppy pieces. Please use all the space provided on the paper, do not draw one tiny thing on the whole A4 paper.
2. Do any one of the following:
2.1 A design of simple pattern suitable for furniture designs, curtains, decorative paper.
2.2 A drawing in pen and ink depicting a scene from the history of the Guide Company.
2.3 A coloured design for a poster, or book cover.
COLLECTORS BADGE1. Write an essay of your hobby, and including the followings:
1.1 Why you find this hobby interesting;
1.2 What did you learn from it;
1.3 How / when did you start this hobby
*Do on foolscape paper
2. Make at least twelve different leaf prints on one piece of A3 (drawing block size) paper.
* You may use paint or colour pencil to do the leaf prints. Do not draw or sketch it. We want real leaf prints.
It may seem like a lot of work and looks very tedious, but there is more than 2 weeks for your to finish, it is also just basic knowledge / research / easy art pieces you guys need to complete. All of your seniors have also completed it already. So complete all of the above stated and state your name & patrol clearly on the top right corner of each piece.
If there is any problems or questions, please ask the seniors ASAP. We do not want want to hear stuffs like "i dont have drawing block" , "i cannot find 12 different leaves" or "i dont have a hobby". We believe you guys are capable of doing all the badges that are up to standard! HAPPY DOING! :)

Just to add on:
1) FALL IN @ 1.50pm does not mean you guys put your bags in the guides room @ 1.50pm and then slowly walk to the foyer taking your own sweet time.
2) We do not want to see any of you wearing watches during roll call or even keeping it inside your pocket because it may look bulgy. So do put your watch inside your bags.
3) Put your bags inside the guides room according to your patrol. We want to see your bags arranged in 6 neat rows. DO NOT put your bags at the canteen or even outside the guides room.
4) COOKIES! Fyi, you guys sold more than what we expected and we are very glad and happy to see your enthusiasm. This shows that you guys are actually capable of doing this kind of things. And i know you guys secretly LOVE guides right? :P

PLEASE PAY ALL YOUR COOKIES MONEY TO GRACE (class 3C) BY TOMORROW! IF YOU DO NOT PAY THE EXACT FULL AMOUNT BY TOMORROW, YOUR ORDERS WILL NOT BE VALID.
ALSO, THERE WILL BE NO MORE ORDERING / CANCELLING / EDITING OF THE COOKIE ORDERS, WE WILL FOLLOW WHATEVER IS STATED IN YOUR ORDER LIST.
HOWEVER, THERE MIGHT BE LEFT OVERS AFTER GIVING OUT ALL THE ORDERS, SO MAYBE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SELL SOMEMORE AFTER THAT. BUT FOR NOW, PLEASE DO NOT KEEP TELLING US THAT YOU WANT TO CHANGE / ADD ORDERS.

TAKE NOTE: THERE IS NO CCA NEXT TUESDAY (19JULY2011).
` Your can take this chance to meet up and finish up your POP performance. Please meet up on your own to practice, make it awesome and stunning, listen to one another and work as a TEAM, not only in your own clique or groups. ;)
Also, if your are meeting up in SCHOOL, please do not make alot of noises or use handphones / mp3s as, obviously, school rules still apply and we did not give your any permission to use them. Remember to keep your volume down as there is olevel listening comprehensions going on around the school.
` We know this is random, but we heard that some people are telling the world to visit our guides blog. We don't have to publicize our blog cos there is basically just no reason to, it is just WEIRD to do so. So pls dont go arnd telling ur friends to visit for no apparent reason, it will only attract more spammers.
` We want to be very clear about strict discipline in girl guides. We punish you guys because we do not want your to make the same mistakes. We bother to even punish you guys because we believe it all starts from the attitude. We know that you guys can live up to expectations and ARE GOOD when you guys do your best. So we punish to remind your that your can do it, you guys just need a little reminder, punishments just push you guys to do even better.
So always have the right mindset, think positively. As long as you guys always do your best in guides and care for everyone, you will naturally realise the beauty of girl guides ;)
` Be confident! :) Do not worry about how others judge you. If we ask you guys to command, just command bravely and loudly. If you are not sure how to say commands, feel free to ask us. :) Do not slouch, giggle giggle, be shy or keep quiet. If we ask you to take charge at any point of time, do not be afraid to speak up or instruct.
` Give us feedbacks :) We always try to ask feedbacks from you guys so that we can improve CCA. Not only in terms of what activities to do, you may give feedbacks about attitude or attire or discipline too. We will not eat you up if you ask us to change certain things. CCA is not only about the excos, is all about you guys. Hence we want to make guides a CCA for all of us to enjoy and love, not one that only the EXCOS like.

SEC 1s : Great job for marching! Improving already!! but there is still lots of room for improvement! KEEP IT UP! smile(: more during CCA too! dont always give bored face okay! We'll try to make it more fun! and make more friends too ok! DONT ever leave ppl out hor! bond together kay!!
SEC 2s : THANKS for hyping up CCA! and KEEP UP UR AWESOME MARCHING!! :D but please dont complain when we have to do those compulsory stuff okay!! have a happy attitude and everything will be FUNN!!! haha:)
SEC 3s : We noe some of u might feel a little bored..hehe..but keep SMILING (: and continue to love guides kay!! THANK U for being such an awesome batch :) Always stay bonded and make everyone hyper too! LOVE U ALL MAN!
to ALL : Marching and some activities may be tiring and all, but its compulsory. So let's have a positive attitude towards those 'boring' stuffs, and i promise u, u will find it FUNNN!! :D use cca as a chance to bond with ur friends AND MAKE NEW FRIENDS TOO OKAY!! anw, EXCOS LOVE U ALL even though we give punishments, we still do, really. :D And thks for putting in so much effort to sell the cookies!!

GIRLGUIDES COOKIES :D
Flavours available:
1) Chocolate Cream
2) Chocolate Crunch
3) Chocolate Mint
4) Oats & Raisins
All of them taste very nice & delicious, with attractive and colourful packaging so persuade all your friends, relatives and your family to buy! :)
To those that don't know, the cookies are packed inside a hard metal tin, rectangular shaped, so the cookies won't be smashed easily. There are approximately 20-30 cookies inside each tin.
Each tin is $12. Different flavours have different design on the tin for the packaging.
Order form can be printed by saving the picture above this post! You guys must fill in the order form and collect all the money too, please pack the money nicely in an envelope, with your name, class & patrol written on it. We will collect all the order forms & money on friday 15 july.
We would not entertain any excuses such as "i forgot to bring" or "i dont have envelope" on friday.

Please sew on all your badges and ranks (for the sec 3s) properly, we will have to wear them 3 times for rehearsal & the actual days.
As understood from the teacher in charge, we will have to go to Jurong East Cultural Hall on 8th August, that day will be our school's awards day, but we all just have to stand there. There will be NO GOH nor marching. For 9th august, we will be at Ayer Rajar CC, for our school National Day celebration. It will involve marching in & marching past. The whole school will be there at the both venues for the events as well. We will practice many times with the rest so do not worry about not knowing what to do. :)
We will update you guys more about it so dont get confused :) For now, these details are confirmed:
FRIDAY CCA (15july) -- we will leave school @ 3.40pm and walk to ayer rajar cc, which is near our school, we have to reach there by 4pm. Attire: Polo tee with GUIDES SKIRT (& belt). We will inform your again if there is a need to wear boots, so check the blog frequently.

PATROL EMBLEM & NDP STUFFS :)
To add on to the post below, this is how you are suppose to sew your Patrol Emblem. The patrol emblem should be aligned with the first button on your shirt as follows.
Do sew according to the picture and remember to use the same colour thread with your patrol emblem.
Also, a note for the NDP girls (not our school awards day cum NDP people, is the real official NDP girls)

Feedback and new rules for CCA (READ):
You guys have been doing a good job in cca, keep up the good work. However, always bear in mind some rules that you have to abide to during cca.
1. Showing respect to teachers & seniors
As we have spoken to you all last session, there is a lack of respect from our fellow guides towards our teachers and seniors. Hence, we would like to implement a few rules in which all of you have to follow, to show respect to your guides and guiders.
a) Greeting the teachers whenever you see them
b) Address each exco with basic respect. DO NOT call us by our names. When talking to us, address us with "ma'am". (This is a sign of courteousy, not because we like you all to call us "ma'am" but because this the right way to address your leaders and also what is expected in any guiding event. Calling us "OEI" or "AYY" or "HELLO" is disrespectful and we will not entertain any requests.)
c) ASK for permission whenever you want to go somewhere or whenever you want to tell us something. (For example: Permission to go to the washroom ma'am, Permission to have __ minutes waterbreak ma'am.)
2. Following instructions
a) When teachers, excos, PLs or PSs give instructions or punishments or orders, do not bargain or talk back to seniors. Follow what we say strictly. We mean it. If you have any comments or misunderstandings, do not question us or argue, but come to us for feedback at the end of every meeting.
b) Do your punishments seriously. It is not a laughing matter. Punishments are not given as we hate you all, and not to demoralise or put you down but to train you all so that you all wouldn't repeat the same mistakes again and again. Laughing just shows that you are not serious about your punishments.
c) When we say something, we are not joking. We will accept no compromising.
***Putting your bags in guides room is one. We are not going to plead you and convince you that you have to put your bags in the guides room because from now on, it is compulsory. Whoever does not put their bags in guides room will have to endure punishment. (This is so as to not cause misunderstandings because though some of you vocally say that you will bear full responsibility if anything goes missing, the teachers and excos still have to be responsible and be blamed.)
3. Having a positive mindset.
It is good to hear from most of the sec ones that you enjoy cca and we hope that all of you will continue to be optimistic and endure even during the tough trainings.

To add on, if you need your phones or mp3s for POP preparation, please remember to bring it with you to fall in. Do not keep asking us to go back to guides room to take your stuffs.
Also, be ready to show us your POP perfs tomorrow! ;)
