GUIDES COOKIES!
[EDITED]
Hi guides, our delicious guides cookies are here already. :) So we need all of you to collect it on friday. There are some instructions to follow so please read properly.
Date: Friday 16 Sept
Time: 1.55pm SHARP
Venue: Guides Room
Attire: whatever you are wearing that day
What to bring: your cookie order list , pen, big plastic bag/ recycle bag (to contain your cookies)
The other time the following people told us your wanted to buy some extra cookies, so tmr pls bring the money as we have extras. :)
- Wen Yi ($24)
- Khalishah ($24)
- Xin Yi ($12)
- Christine ($12)
- Hui Qi ($12)
To others that want to buy somemore cookies, but names are not listed, please stay back awhile tmr after we give out finish, to see if there are extras (oats & raisins + choco mint SHOULD not have any extras).
*& We are still short of payment for TWO tins ($24), those that haven't pay, please pay up tomorrow!
First, good job to everyone that sold more than 8 tins of cookies, please thank your "customers" as well for supporting guides and for patiently waiting for the cookies to arrive.
Second, there might be some stock mistakes as there are many last minute orders and some money issues. So first come first serve, we will give out the cookies as stated in your order list, but if there are lack of stocks, we will replace certain tins with a different flavour. But don't worry, it is just a 'MIGHT'.
Third, THOSE THAT HAVEN'T PAY THE FULL AMOUNT FOR THE COOKIES, be it you that havent submitted your money, or your "customers", you are responsible for it and must pay all the missing amount to Grace (class 3C) BEFORE friday.
Fourth, no full amount paid = no cookies. & No order list = no cookies. Also, no one is to leave or "store" their cookies in the guides room, for whatever reason, whether your friends went home already or you dont have a plastic bag or anything. What you can do is to ask them to stay back a little while on friday after school.
Kays, so to avoid confusion and chaos in guides room on friday, you guys need to follow some instructions. Read carefully:
1) DO NOT bring your bags in the guides room, nor leave it outside the room, as it might block people's path. Don't even carry it into the room. Instead just bring the needed items as stated above.
2) When your come in, line up OUTSIDE the guides room in your LEVELS first. Sec 1s nearest to the windows, then sec 2s, then sec 3s (nearest to the notice board). DO NOT ask your "customers" to come.
3) If you have something on that day, pls tell us earlier if you cannot come, then arrange a date to collect it. If you need to leave quickly after taking the cookies, make sure to line up in front so that you can take first or ask for permission.
4) The excos will then ask a few of each level to go in at a time. Go in the same way as u lined up, means sec 1s stay on the left (near the sofa in guides room) and so forth. It will be easier to give out this way.
5) When waiting, please talk softly if needed, and do not take up the whole walkway outside guides room.
---
Another thing, many of you guys should know what is Camp Challenge. If you do not know, it is basically a guides camp where many guides from all over singapore come to participate and learn together. It is a camp where they will test all your outdoor activity and guides skills, such as Canvas tent pitching, gadgets and even quizzes on Guiding. The format they follow is somewhat like a competition where they will grade the different categories (such as pioneering, patrol design etc) and their criteria and standards are very high.
8 of our sec 3 guides have participated in the camp last June and am happy to say that we won a total of 3 prizes :D!
1st for Gadget making & 3rd for both Patrol Flag Design and Outdoor Cooking.
Overall, we rank 2nd in the whole of West Division, which include other schools like Clementi Town SS, Nanyang Girls, Zhenghua SS etc.
All schools did very well, and we have met many many helpful and loving guides. It was super memorable and beneficial, and it is not easy to attain such standards. For example, the outdoor cooking, they asked us to make our own OVEN out of card box and aluminium foil. They also asked us to cook dishes like Banana Pie/Muffin, Steamed Fish, Rice etc.
Which is also why it is called Camp CHALLENGE.
So anyways, we hope all of you can continue such good work. See you all on friday :)

NOTES + CCA MEETING
Guides, as mentioned to your during thurs cca,
If you guys don't respect us, we will not respect you too.
What we mean by not respecting you guys is, we will do whatever we like, want and feel like. Even if its unreasonable.
It totally doesn't matter if you have a position or not, responsibility and discipline is something BASIC that everyone should have, because "GUIDING" itself is a responsibility given to your.
EVERYONE read the following carefully and WE WILL NOT REPEAT IT AGAIN. Read every single point, especially those points about roll call, you might not be the one doing roll call this time but you might need it when it comes to your turn.
1) Everybody better have their PL AND PS handphone numbers. Pl and Ps are supposed to have ALL their patrol member's numbers as well. Anyone fail to do so or didnt receive relay message, PL and PS will bear the concequences.
2) FALL IN on time at reporting time & place.
Usually -->
TUESDAYS : 2.50pm (foyer)
FRIDAYS : 1.50pm (foyer)
{read the guides blog for correct detail cos it can be changed any time}
*Whoever late / wrong attire/ never bring anything, that person + their PL & PS will do punishment with them.
What we mean by fall in, we will only say this ONCE and very DETAILEDLY:
4) Photographers
Dont forget dateline is 1 oct. Volunteer yourselves either by tagging in the tagboard, smsing the excos or telling us during cca itself.
5) When we say "tell the excos", we mean:
If you do not have our numbers:
can choose to email us or sms your PL / PS and ask them to tell us (every sec 3 have at least one exco number)
If you have our numbers: sms us and also tell us who you are as we might not know.
We really want to make cca very fun and set reasonable expectations. We have been doing that for the past, what, 4-5 months. It's all been wasted as nobody appreciated it. Now, the least expectations, respect, responsibility, initiative & DISCIPLINE, is not even there, so we will not hestitate to do what is needed to train your to have those principles, before anything else.

*Whoever late / wrong attire/ never bring anything, that person + their PL & PS will do punishment with them.
What we mean by fall in, we will only say this ONCE and very DETAILEDLY:
- At the reporting time, REGARDLESS EXCOS PRESENT OR NOT, patrol leaders to fall in in a straight line.
- PL not present, PS take over, or anybody from the patrol to fall in. Regardless whether you know how to or not. But by now, everyone should know. The person is then in charge of roll call.
- Every min late = 10 squats for the whole patrol. We will follow OUR own time. Not the school's or your's, so better be early. (if u didnt know, actually canteen's time is SLOWER)
- We will ask your to number yourselves, then turn 2 spacing to your left extent.
- SAY your number out LOUDLY & BANG your legs 90 degrees. This is not the first day you join guides, if we have to repeat ourselves again, all the ppl that are doing the roll call owe us punishments.
- When we ask whole company to fall in, we expect your to fall in within 5 secs.
- We will start counting UP after 5 secs is up and you guys will have to do that amt of punishment (might be squats, might be push ups, might be sit ups; its up to us)
- When asked to call the roll, BANG your legs 90 degrees and march properly, arms 90 & 45 degrees. Fail to do so, we will ask the whole patrol to stay in that position, until we feel that it is long enough for your to remember.
- During roll call, NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO MOVE AT ALL. It is NOT a time to adjust. It is a time for the person in charge of roll call to ask those that do not adhere to the rules to fall out and report to the excos.
- What to check during roll call: hair, socks, nails, attire. All of you should know the rules by heart now, so we wont repeat it again here. For nails: any sort of fancy nails is not allowed (shiny/long/decorated/coloured nails, all not allowed)
- After checking, fall back in and wait for instructions to fall out to be given
- If need to adjust or not feeling well. BANG your leg and raise your hand to ask for permission. Telling / asking the excos when we walk past you will be ignored.
- Excos will then check everyone, and if anyone is caught not adhereing to any single rule, we will punish that person and the person that did the roll call.
4) Photographers
Dont forget dateline is 1 oct. Volunteer yourselves either by tagging in the tagboard, smsing the excos or telling us during cca itself.

DATE: 8 sept 2011 (thursday)
TIME: morning (not yet confirmed)
VENUE: Guides HQ @ Bishan
ATTIRE: Full Guides Uniform (boots; not yet confirmed)
We have not been updated about the exact details, so check back often as we will post the details when we know it. Often as in on a daily basis. This badge is specially arranged only for 11 of your, so please make any arrangements if you need (eg tuition) so that you can attend this test. There is a cca meeting on the same day. We will update you guys if you need to come or not.
3) Zheng Hua Campfire PEOPLE
You should know who you are. Dont forget to sign your consent forms and bring it on thursday.
-details will be briefed to your during cca meetup on thurs.-
4) Swiss Cottage Campfire PEOPLE
DATE: 3 sept
Please go and practice the dance step (and memorise your LINES if you have) properly before saturday itself. We will meet earlier before the campfire starts, to rehearse & perfect the steps. THIS IS NOT a time for you to LEARN or REFRESH your memory on the steps, you should know all the steps by now.
TIME: 4pm sharp
ATTIRE: FULL GUIDES UNIFORM (white canvas shoes + plaits)
-dont forget ANY part of the uniform.
VENUE: Swiss Cottage Sec Sch ENTRANCE.
WHAT TO BRING: Valuables, water bottle AND CONSENT FORM.
For your reference, these are the songs we will be dancing to. You may search for the Music Videos or Live Performances on youtube.
1) Oh! (girls generation)
2) Mr Taxi (girls generation)
3) Roly Poly (t-ara) [search for Roly Poly live performance, not mv]
We know it is difficult to learn in such a short period, and some of you don't even know the songs, but we think you guys wouldn't want to come back on friday (2nd sept) to just practice and practice AND PRACTICE for the whole day. So just learn the dances yourself, familiarise all the steps you are not sure of. Your efforts will pay off when we perform nicely without a mistake in front of so many guides AND SCOUTS during the campfire.
& FYI: when we write "fall in in rows of 3 @ foyer" on the guidesroom whiteboard. we meant FALL IN as in STAND in senang diri position. Dont move. And wait for the excos to come. Since when fall in means sit on benches laugh talk EAT (!) or sit down move about and chitchat. No one gave your permission to EAT or USE HANDPHONES in the dance room as well right. Told your umpteen times but no one listened.
How many times do your want us to repeat ourselves???????
