CAMP UPDATES :)
Camp details:
DATE: 28 Nov 2011
TIME: 7.30am
VENUE: Parade Square Podium
ATTIRE: PE Shirt + Shorts w/ comfortable walking shoes
WHAT TO PREPARE: A patrol identity (anything that only your entire patrol has, it can be a nametag or a wristband or anything that doesn't go against the guides rule. It must be worn throughout camp. Patrol leaders, do contact your fellow patrol members & decide.)
- Remember to have breakfast before reporting for camp
- DO NOT bring any food or sweet drinks to camp
- Label ALLLLL of your stuffs, especially your utensils, as there will be MASS washing.
Packlist:
1) 1 Polo tee + 1 PE Shirt + 1 dark coloured t-shirt + guides scarf
2) Sufficient pairs of socks
3) 3 pair of shorts
-pe shorts OR straight cut FBTs only
-BLACK & DARK BLUE colour only
4) Sufficient sets of undergarments
5) POP Attire & Materials (costumes, props & presents)
6) Slippers (to be used in showers)
7) Sleeping Bag
8) Ziplock/Plastic Bags to store used clothes
9) Small personal first aid kit (should include thermometer, plasters etc)& personal medication
10) Insect repellent, sunscreen, lip balm
11) Small torchlight with batteries
12) Guides Handbook & Writing Materials
13) Poncho/Umbrella
14) 1 stack of newspapers
15) Ez-link card & valuables

Few things to take note:
1) For camp, we need certain patrols to buy certain stuffs:
- Flowerpecker: Dishwashing Liquid (eg, mama lemon. Buy smallest bottle available)
- The rest: EACH patrol bring/buy one a largebased pail (need not be TALL, but need to be LARGE)
*Keep the receipts, money claim after camp. If the pail is BOUGHT, can keep in guides room for future purposes.
2) Do remember to complete your powerpoint slides on the trip to botanic gardens by 2nd Dec. Those who were not here, ask your PL/PS on what's going on.

We dont get to see some of ur anytime before camp, so this is a photocopy for your to print & sign, then bring to camp. However, if you do not have a printer or have any difficulties printing, please come down to the open house tmr (guides booth@ hall) to get a copy from Sarah.

There are TWO entrance gates, but we are meeting at the Melati Gate which is nearest to Botanic Gardens MRT (circle line). Search up online to find which bus service is nearest to that gate if need. Map can be googled easily as well.

Hey guides, we need to prepare for the School Open house soon, so in preparation for it, we need your help to come up with some designs. Our booth will be a small one in the sch hall, approximately four school tables that size, so rmb to take that into consideration when doing your draft.
Oriole, Dove & Swallow: Each member to come up with a BANNER DESIGN.
- Banner size approximately A1 size, 84.1 X 59.4 cm
- Simple but meaningful design will do, please do your draft on a piece of A4 paper
- Try to potray what guiding is all about through the banner, dont include a bunch of words too.
Kingfisher, Mynah & Flowerpecker: Each member to come up with a POSTER DESIGN.
- Posters stating what we do in guides, like outdoor stuffs or normal cca acitivities, can include anything that is relevant to guiding too.
- Use simple drawings to bring accross your msg, and organise your information.
- Do your poster draft on an A4 paper.

That day will be a full day cca, end around 3-4pm. So please eat your breakfast, and bring enough money to settle your own lunch. This will be the last time we'll be giving your time to practice for POP, so please make full use out of it. Dont forget what we say during cca on tues.
This part will be kinda complicated, its the money that your need to pay for your profiency badges and some of your will be different so READ VERY VERY VERY CAREFULLY. If your name is spefically mentioned, just bring the amt beside your name, if not bring the amt your level is asked to bring. Any qns pls ask the excos.

NOTE:
[Sec 1s] Please check your google apps as yuanshan has sent your Scribe Badge materials to study, your will be taking the test on tuesday, so study well, as almost all of your failed the previous test.
Also, those that didnt went for the kidsREAD programme, provide a parents letter or MC to state your reason for your absence, give the excos on tuesday during roll call.

Hi guides, there are some changes to the cca events in november, so please take note.
CCA TIMES (tentative, these are ESTIMATED dismissal times):
14 nov: 2.00pm - 5.00pm (sec 3s only; trip to jurong hill)
15nov: 7.30am - 1.00pm
18 nov: 7.30am - 4.30pm
21 nov: 9.30am - 12.30pm (sec 3s only)
23 nov: 8.00am - 1.00pm (trip to botanic gardens, but its a CCA!)
25 nov: -to be updated- (selected ppl to prepare for openhouse only)
26 nov: 7.30am - 11.30am (selected ppl to helpout at the open house booth only)
28-30 nov: camp + POP (pop starts at 6.00pm)
3,4,11 dec: First aid course
7 dec: Pioneer Test
10 dec: Footdrill Test
Details of each event will be updated separately, we are aware that the sec 2s are doing their CIP, so please make the neccessary changes, as well as the sec 3s that are going to Taiwan, we will mark your VR from 20-26nov. :)
GUIDES TEESHIRT:
Most of the sec 2s & 3s should know this already, but about the price of the guides tee, it is quite pricey as IT IS PERSONALISED :D Means your name will be printed on the back of the shirt individually. So dont forget to tell your PL your size, ONLY SIZE XS, S, M & L AVAILABLE.
Anyone with financial problems / difficulties, or your parents have any questions about it, just tell the excos, but ASAP. :)
KIDS READ PROGRAMME (for all sec 1s only):
This is the training that we told your is compulsory to attend during one of the meetups, in the Library Instructional Room that time, so anyone with any questions or valid reasons that you are unable to attend, please tell the excos by passing the msg through your PS or PL by saturday evening.

GUIDES TEE + CCA INFO
MUST READDDD:
We have designed and ordered our new guides tee (yay! :D) Each shirt is $17, so sec 2s & 3s please bring the money tmr, sec 1s bring next tuesday. We need the money urgently for deposit so pls bring on time, anyone with any financial problems, feel free to tell the excos. We will upload the design as soon as we got the soft copy, the shirt will be dri fit very light pinkish colour, round-necked. :)
Its also quite expensive as the design this year will be very different and special. More details will be announced to your soon. :)
IMPORTANT: Every single one, please tell your shirt size (XS/S/M/L) to your PL. PL please collate and send to Grace's google apps BY SATURDAY NIGHT 8.00PM. Also, dont overestimate your size, if you are usually a M, take S, as the sizes are abit large.

★★★ Anyone with faulty World Badge, any parts of the guides uniform or anything to buy from the guides HQ, please sms yuanshan BEFORE 4NOV NIGHT. (sms your PL or PS to sms her if you do not have her number). However, badges like Total Defence or Bronze/Silver/Gold badges are not included.

Please complete by saturday -->
1) Whole Homemaker's Profiency Badge Training Booklet (eveything must be done, even page 3, 10 and 12, work in your groups as much as possible :))
2) Pineapple Jam (each guide is supposed to have one whole jar, means jam made by one whole pineapple for each person.) You can go to your friend's house to do but it is individual work, please be careful and follow the procedures on page 8 as well, dont forget to wash the jar well before storing your jam in it! Let's all aim to make delicious, golden brown jam. :D
3) A letter stating the first few points in page 2, "bring a statement signed by her parent showing that she had been...." It is supposed to be handwritten on a piece of crisp foolscap paper.
What to write:
My daughter has cleaned her own pair of shoes and make beds satisfactorily for seven consecutive days. She has been very thorough in her work and is tidy and helpful at home. She is able to use a flat sheet and demonstrate the folding of an 'envolope' or 'mitre' corner as well.

4) Fold the small piece of white cloth given to you during the course, first fold 1cm down, then another 2.5cm. Hold it down with needles. Remember to insert the needles in the correct direction as mrs peter had demonstrated. Also, go look up videos on youtube or ask your parents to teach you how to hem clothes, so that we will be more prepared when she teaches us.
What to bring on saturday pioneering course:
- Water Bottle (IMPT! as we will be chopping wood and stuffs under the hot sun)
- Pineapple Jam in a GLASS JAR with your name & school labelled on it
- Cloth with the needles + needle & thread (white colour thread only)
- Letter (signed by your parents)
