sec1s:
- learn the history of guiding (Lord Baden-Powell, the Crystal Palace Rally etc)
- guides laws, guides motto, guides honour, guides promise
- the meaning behind the trefoil, world badge, flag, left-hand handshake, salute and guide sign
- what the three-fold promise and 'a good turn a day' means
- the significance of thinking day
sec1s, do take note that these are all basic guides knowledge which all of you are required to know. many of these will be tested during enrolment ceremony and you can look up the information online or borrow a guides handbook from any of the seniors.
it might be a bit boring to learn all of these and there's a lot to memorise, but bear with it as this is a standard thing which all guides have to at the start :) don't keep any doubts to yourself and ask the seniors!
all of you will be buying you own guides handbook soon too and that's where most of the information will be in.
sec2s:
- those who volunteered for NDP @ floating bay this year, remember to reschedule your tuitions and keep those dates free :) start practicing on your marching/standing as you don't start training now, the training during then might be too tough for you to take.
- dancers' badge: this will be tested after common test, probably in march. get yourselves ready and meet up on your own. the standards will be high as a non-guides teacher will be your tester, so don't embarrass yourselves. do keep to the task :)
*remember the guides motto: be prepared - so you guys have to be ready for it to be tested anytime
- thrift badge: do this on your own time. it will be held over a period of 3 months and your task is to record down the amount of pocket money you receive, spend and save daily for all 3 months. do it properly and honestly, do not cheat!
*remember your honour: "my honour means that i can be trusted to be truthful and honest".
PS: further information on how to do this badge will be sent via emails to you all by afiqah. she will inform all of you when she has sent the email :)

sec3s:
- those who volunteered for syf parade this year, keep the months of may/june/july free as the training will probably be held during then. you might miss a portion of your holidays or even school lessons, so keep up with your studies. mye will be during then too so don't neglect your studies because of the parade! also remember to train your marching/standing if your skills have gotten sloppy after not marching for quite long.
- initiatives: the first initiative will be carried out next month, and excos will not be involved in directing it. the whole company will be doing it with you, but you guys will be the ones to direct them: eg. giving them instructions, deadlines, logistics to stick to, budgets and etc. remember that all of you are the ICs now. take it a test for excos to see your leadership skills and judge you for which positions you might get in the future.
- upcoming carnival booth:
the $20 tickets you guys are selling are for GGS carnival @ nanhua high, and CSSGG will be setting up a booth for it too. start planning what you want to have at the booth, as this will also be assigned to all of you. if you need excos to decide on an IC, please tell us. get ready your plans as we'll want solid proposals from all of you soon. do not push all the work to the same people.
*some ideas: selling food/games/arts and crafts eg flower making, soda tap bracelets, milk carton wallets/the previous batch of excos set up a bowling station using recycled materials like sand & plastic bottles.
for games, try your best to use recycled materials and exercise your creativity.
sec4s:
- start passing all your knowledge down to your juniors. especially those who are good in certain areas eg. marching, leadership, proposals, gadgets, outdoor cooking.
- patrols are there for a reason. those sec4s in each patrol are expected to teach all your juniors everything that you've learned, and also train and help the sec1s. keep the enthusiastic spirit so the rest will follow your example :)
important: whole company
