Updates for June Holidays

For Secondary Ones:

1) Accident Prevention Badge (due:  1st CCA session in term 3)
- You are to research and submit a scrapbook with the following information in it. It has to be detailed, and nicely done + decorated with pictures. We’ll tell you to re-do if it’s not up to the standard, so please put in your best effort.

1.    Know and where possible, demonstrate how to guard against accidents and when using: gas electrical appliances, kerosene stoves, naked lights, open fires.

2.    Know what special precautions to take in the house with:
2.1          Small children
2.2          Old people

3.    Know at least three different ways of preventing accidents:
3.1          When boating and bathing;
3.2          When using public transport, cars and cycles;
3.3          When with animals;
3.4          In high-rise buildings.

4.    Know what special precautions to take outdoors with regard to barbed wire, poisonous plants, storms and other hazards, e.g. Hornets, jelly-fish etc.

5.    Be prepared to put your knowledge to the test in a given situation.

2) Writers badge (due: 1^st CCA session in term 3)
-You are to submit the following writings to us…… neatly written/ typed out. Good luck on your writing!!

1. Write an original story of one thousand to two thousand words.
2. Write one of the following:

2.1          A dramatic sketch taking at least 10 min to perform;
2.2          A short poem in recognized verse form.
2.3          An article or campfire yarn of not less than two hundred words;
2.4          An essay on her favourite hero or heroine.

For Secondary Twos:

1) Thrift Badge- Clause 3 (1^st CCA session in term 3)

-I think everyone has already completed your clause 1 and 2, for those who have not hand in yet, please do so on the first cca session of term 3. For clause 3, you have to give us a short write-up to prove that you are thrifty, and how to be more thrifty, in not less than 50 words + a picture attached to show evidence of what you have done. In the same piece of paper, answer the question on the real meaning of thrift. (please type it out)

3.     Bring to the test an article that proves that she is thrifty. E.g. repairing toys or equivalent. Answer questions on the real meaning of thrift.

2) Citizenship Badge (1^st CCA session in term 3)

-Do your research and answer the questions in clause one, neatly written/typed out. (Questions can be found on the Girl Guides Proficiency Badges page, citizenship badge)

- For clause 2, you are to submit a scrapbook with the following information, nicely done + decorated with pictures. Do it well or we’ll reject and make you re-do.

2.     Practical work (Make a Scrap Book of the Government at work.)

1. History of the government (PAP)
2. How does the present PAP work?
3. Life of any one cabinet minister
4. How to be a good citizen? Give personal experience. Usage of photos as evidence.

- For clause 3, you are to research on one of the topic below, and be very familiar with it as we will be testing you verbally on one of the cca sessions. You will need to know how to answer questions of the topic you have chosen.

3.     Be able to speak briefly on one of the following topics:
- Features of a multi-racial Society – the need for tolerance; - The rights and responsibilities of a citizen; - The Constitution of Singapore and how laws are made; - Law and Security in the Republic; - The Judiciary: Supreme Court, Magistrate’s Court, Police Court, The Armed Forces & Singapore Law; - Relationship with the Commonwealth.

For Secondary Threes:

1) Initiative Proposal (Inter-UG amazing race)

- You are to edit the proposal on google doc (shared with everyone already) for the amazing race. Add in anything that you feel will make the amazing race more interesting and just edit the proposal, as well as to do up the whole proposal. Due: 14June, 2359.

For Everyone:

- We will be collecting the cookie money & orders on the first Friday when school reopens, so tell all your customers to pay up and if you haven’t get more than 10 orders, time to start selling full power !! Even if you have more than 10, continue selling more !! Good Luck !!

- Those going for the Teban Gardens Racial Harmony thingy, there will be days when you have to come back to school to prepare (which will most probably be on the 4^th week), we’ll tell you the date when confirmed!

- Have a good rest & play hard this holiday, before the hell starts again in July L we love you girls. If you have any questions about the tasks, just pm the excos.
