new chapter!

HI guides :)
it's eunice again hehe and congrats to all the new excos/PLs/PS!
you have just embarked on your toughest year in girl guides yet. and before the strain of leadership gets to you, please remember to always stay organised. don't fall behind in your studies. create a goal for what you want to achieve in guides and stick to it :)

CL & ACLs - being an exco is the toughest job and you always have to put the company before yourselves. plan carefully on what you want to do, be it badges, marching, games etc. bear in mind that a good leader should not feel distant from the company or use fear to make the company behave :)

PLs - the most important thing is to make sure your patrol is bonded :) you're in charge of making sure no one is left out (seriously, some PLs in the past neglect doing this) and no one pons cca etc. don't go overcompetitive with trying to be the 'best patrol'. there's no 'best patrol', you're all working together to make CSSGG a great company to be in :D

Sec1s/Sec2s - your main aim in cca is to learn, make friends and have fun! don't just stick to the same cliques. you're sorted in patrols, but that doesn't mean you can't make friends with people from other patrols. try to make your time in guides a meaningful one - get as many badges as you can so that your uniform will look nice ^^, try to attend parades especially NDP because it's really very rewarding and memorable, try to go for all the school events because it will look nice on your testimonial when you graduate!
the activities may get sian sometimes. you may feel frustrated with the way cca is being conducted, or with the punishments. but this is a UG, and being very disciplined is what separates us from other ccas and makes us unique.
don't think of marching as torture, but be proud of it! no other cca (except band) does marching, and make sure you do it well because #girlpower
even if you feel that cca sessions can be really dull, let your friends be your motivation to go :) as long as you guys are bonded, nothing will ever feel sian :)
lastly, remember what the whole point of guides is: for you to emerge as well-rounded girls at the end, having tried all kinds of activities (from camping to marching to outdoor cooking to crafts to wide games to confidence walks to parades and so many more), being part of a sisterhood, having fun and enjoying yourself :)

i hope that all of you will stay bonded and work towards achieving a gold for PNA this year! you guys can do it! all the best :)

sincerely,
eunice, CL'2013
