~ Why bring small plastic bag? ~
In celebration for NDP, our very own guides will be setting up a booth for Flower-Making :) It is not only pretty easy and decorative, it is also environmentally friendly! ^^ Most of you guys may already know, that it uses plastic bags to construct the petals of the flowers. Super nice and easy. :) So to support them, everyone is required to bring at least 1 small plastic bag. This applies to everyone, even those helping out at the booth or parade ppl. :)

[For the sec 1s]
We need a banner for the booth, so some of your will be given a letter to cut out (mostly those not involved in any event, otherwise randomly chosen). Please cut out the letter from a magazine, choose a page with many colours. It must be A4-sized, not any smaller or bigger. We really need your help with this, so if you cannot come on monday / tuesday, please ask another sec 1 to help you cut your letter.

Hand up your letter to Sarah on MONDAY, all letters to be in caps. Thanks for all your help. :)

[For the sch NDP ppl]

Drink plenty of water, hydrate yourselves the night before. Do have a light breakfast at home before reporting. We know it might be very early for some of you to report / wake up, but please treat this seriously as it is something to be really proud of. We are representing commonwealth, as well as your very own CCA, girl guides, in front of the whole school and even the public.

Also, some of you guys might think it is very ugly or nerdy to wear such long socks, knee-length skirt or to pin up your fringes, but dont feel insecure or slouch, always be confident as that is what determines your beauty. Sounds cheesy but still.. ;)

Recollections:

There was a time, not long ago,
When other flags flew in Singapore.
The British flag in colonial rule,
And the Japanese flag in war.
There was no freedom, no justice,
When our forefathers stepped ashore.
Life was a struggle, bitter and hard,
And families were hungry and poor.
There spoke a dozen different tongues,
Though their dreams were all the same.
But their hopes for a better life were lost,
When war and invasion came.

They had no rights, they had no say,
And they longed to be free one day.

After the war, we called for a change,
For the right to decide our fate.
Some of us wanted democracy,
Others, a communist state.
Riots and killings in our streets,
Years of hate and fear.
People said we'd never survive,
As independence drew near.
When self-rule came, we took a vote
And joined Malaysia as one.
But even friends disagree sometime,
And more trouble had soon begun.

Our happiness was not to be,
Until our country could be free.

August nine, nineteen sixty-five,
We were out of Malaysia... alone!
Against all odds we had to build
A nation of our own.
We've come this far, by ourselves,
One people from many lands.
Our forefathers paid the price for us;
Now the future is in our hands.
This is our home, where we belong,
And our flag flies high and free.
But let's not take for granted,
What we have will always be.

We pledge to keep our nation free
With justice and equality.

OKAY END OF POST. SEE YOU ALL ON MONDAY! :D
